Margaret’s mother Ethel Scott (My Great Grandmother) died at a young age of 37 from meningitis & tuberculosis. Above are photos of Maggie Owens & Ethel Scott in 1907.  Below is a poem Ethel wrote while sick in bed.

“My Cross”

-August 1939

Just when the clouds seem darkest
And I am discouraged and don’t
Know what to do.
I try to see beyond those clouds in
Heavenly blue.
The sun is always shining therefor
Me and You.

When my heart is heavy and
pain to bear
And sorrow and distress seem
so near,
I look beyond for many a mile, and
“try to carry my cross with
A smile.”

My Savior suffered and also died
for me,
So I submit myself unto
thee
And try my best to be cheerful
and smile,
For the end me be near-and
I sem to hear him say
It will all be over after a while
