🌿 Cannabis Butter (Cannabutter) Recipe

🧈 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup (7–10 grams) decarboxylated cannabis

  • 1 cup water (helps regulate temperature and prevents scorching)

🔥 Step 1: Decarboxylate the Cannabis

This step activates the THC (or CBD) in your cannabis.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C).

  2. Break cannabis into small pieces. (we recommend Blue Dream from our shelves!)

  3. Spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Bake for 40 minutes, gently stirring every 10 minutes.

  5. Let it cool.

🍳 Step 2: Infuse the Butter

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan or slow cooker, combine butter, water, and decarboxylated cannabis.

  2. Simmer on low heat (160–180°F / 70–80°C) for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally.

    • Do NOT boil! That can destroy cannabinoids.

  3. Strain the mixture through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer into a glass container.

    • Do not squeeze the plant material — it adds bitterness.

  4. Let it cool, then refrigerate until solid.

  5. Once solid, remove the hardened butter and discard the excess water.

🧊 Storage:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for longer-term use.

⚠️ Dosage Tips:

  • Potency depends on your cannabis strength and quantity. Start low when cooking or baking with it.

  • Always test a small amount before consuming a full dose — edibles can take 30–90 minutes to kick in and last several hours.
